Josie achieved her Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Sheffield in the summer of 2023. She undertook her final year project under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Slark looking at polyesters synthesised from sustainable lactones using ring-opening polymerisation, focusing primarily on temperature-dependent copolymer sequencing of unsubstituted and substituted lactones, to yield materials with different thermal properties. She started her PhD at the University of Birmingham supervised by Dr Maria Chiara Arno and Prof. Andrew P. Dove, in the field of lipoic acid as a sustainable feedstock for soft biomaterials.
