Meltem Haktanıyan was born in Ankara, Turkey. She earned her master’s degree in chemistry from Middle East Technical University, focusing on temperature-responsive polymers and drug release profiles of multilayer thin films. In 2018, she received a PhD scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of National Education (YLSL Study Abroad Programme) and joined the Bradley group in November 2019. She completed her PhD in March 2024, researching antimicrobial polymers. Recently, she joined the Arno group as a postdoctoral researcher to work on coating the cell surface with adhesive polymers.
